Soak It In!

The simplest way to help prevent stormwater pollution is to help water absorb into the ground instead of becoming stormwater in the first place! You can make a big impact by installing a rain garden, which collects water to help it absorb into the ground and is attractively planted with native plants, or rain barrel, which collects water from one of your downspouts so that you can use it to water your garden later. Water that has been put to work for your garden won't have a chance to pick up pollution. Need a simpler solution? Just aim your downspouts so that they bring water to your yard or garden instead of to the street.
